NSW: Adams still seeks John Howard s support

SYDNEY, Feb 27 AAP - Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams said today he remained hopeful that Prime
Minister John Howard would become personally involved in Ireland's push for autonomy from
Britain.

Mr Howard has refused to meet the Northern Irish political leader during his Australian
tour.

Mr Adams said Ireland's push for independence had progressed notably through talks with
other world leaders such as South Africa's Nelson Mandela and US President Bill Clinton.
